wrong or right, I don’t know
I didn’t know how to title this lmao, I swear it’s not serious…. I had some thoughts about the ways I interact with medias or fandoms and they have been rotating in my brain for a while… so I guess I could write about it there? After all, the blog is here for this too.
It all started because lately, like I said in an earlier post, I was rewatching my hero academia. There is no secret or mystery for who knows me well that I absolutely love childhood friends ships.
And of course, which ship in mha do you think I liked the first time I read the manga and I still like now watching the anime?
KatsuDeku, 1 of course.
It’s not everyone’s cup of tea, I can see it, considering bk was very mean to dk all the time as children, and even if he apologized and grew up from his own actions, I can still see why some people might not like it. It’s okay.
I HAVEN’T MADE ALL THIS POST TO RAMBLE ABOUT BKDK I SWEAR
but I was trying to make a point about my own way of interacting to media and ships, and bkdk is important for what I want to say: lately I finally started to accept I have a very particular way of interacting with ships or things I like.
You see, bkdk is a very popular ship, there is a lot of content around between fanarts, doujinshis, fanfics and so on.
What’s the point of all of I am trying to say? Even if there is a shitload of content I have been kind of sulking because most of it is not of my taste.
It’s not something that happened only with bkdk, but something I have been not noticing until lately; or maybe I tried to not think about too much.
The signs were always there, as for example when I was into genshin in 2020 I was only interested in drawing kaeluc 2 as yuri, and I had little to no interest in them as men. I drew them as men sometimes, and those were the times my drawings were most noticed by the fandom (I can see it, CONSIDERING THE YURI VERSIONS WERE MY DELUSION). Even when I was producing so much knightlight 3 (I speak in past tense because I haven’t been drawing much in general lately but I still love them dearly) I had a very particular way of portraying Crick and Temenos, especially Crick, which I felt wasn’t a very popular view of the character. And people mostly didn’t care of the content when I made them yuri.
I tend to be that kind of person which can’t really read or watch something when a character’s personality or behavior gets changed too much from the canon character just to fit into a ship situation, but that’s my personal way of seeing it. I tend to feel embarrassed and weird about it. I also have a very particular way of interacting with my own original characters. It’s complicated.
I don’t mind when people change personalities or other stuffs, but I just can’t do it. And it’s great! It’s great because the world is full of different kind of people. I just can’t interact with omegaverse, but it seems to be very popular… I am someone who sometimes has fixed 4 preferences for ships, and sometimes doesn’t.
It’s important interacting with content at your own pace and your own preference.
Interacting with characters or ships or plots makes us happy, that’s the point of liking something! If there is no happiness or fun, it’s pointless.
All this post basically is because I noticed that even if I like very popolar content I tend to have niche taste. Lmao. Well. I will have to cook my food for myself I guess, and I hope my friends don’t mind me rambling too much or gushing about stuffs I like. ♥️
Talk to me about stuffs which make you happy, btw. Especially if it’s your original characters and stories. I am always happy to listen if I can!
(This post will be inserted in the category of “noticing certain patterns in myself”)
It’s one of the names of Bakugo and Izuku ship from my hero academia, other names are bakudeku, bkdk, etc. KatsuDeku sounds cute bc it’s similar to Katsudon…..↩
Kaeya and Diluc ship from Genshin Impact↩
it’s the fandom name of the ship of crick and temenos from Octopath Traveler 2 game↩
I am talking about top/bottom positions of ships when I say fixed preferences haha↩
